Kilkee Sub Aqua Club

A member club of Comhairle Fo Thuinn (Irish Underwater Council) KILKEE SUBAQUA CLUB was founded to promote scuba diving as a sport in this area. It is a voluntary non-profit-making body run on members subscriptions and fund-raising activities. It trains new members in the sport in pool over the Winter months (Nov. onwards) and then in the sea from March each year. The club has a diving boat, air compressor and just enough equipment to launch the new trainees in the sport. Dive outings are available for members at a reasonable cost at weekends and the club encourages members to advance in training in all aspects of the sport, which is regulated by the parent federation of up to 80 clubs in Ireland to modern standards of training and safety. The club was founded in October 1982 and hopes to continue in existence for the future. Suitably trained volunteers take part in search and recovery in the area, when required, as a contribution to the community. This is a healthy and stimulating pastime for suitably motivated people.
